About

Academia, Industry, research and more...

Simon has a strong track record of working with multidisciplinary academic teams in areas of healthcare, computer and bio-sciences, and mathematical modelling to bring the lived experience perspective to clinicians working in multi-disciplinary approaches to healthcare technology, in particular prognostic and diagnostic biomarkers of epilepsy.

Simon has an established skill for public speaking, bringing stories from his own personal experiences, ensuring his talks are understandable, captivating, and thought-provoking. This has allowed him to deliver talks to a range of audiences from academics, to researchers, students, and lay-people; keeping the content pitched at a level that he is understood by all.

Through years of experience working with industry partners, Simon has an ability to tease crucial detail from plans, working alongside tech companies to ensure their projects keep the needs of the end-user at heart through all stages of planning, conceptualisation, design iterations, and prototypes to the finished article.

"Conversations with Simon [have] led me to reassess previous assumptions I held – his questions are critical, direct, and on point – and allowed me to reformulate questions of interest in a way so that they are grounded in a deeper understanding of epilepsy."

W. Woldman, ERUK Emerging Leader Fellow, SMQB, Uni of Birmin

"Simon inspires and leads others with epilepsy so that they can contribute to a better understanding of epilepsy (clinically and scientifically), and ultimately prevent / cure; and engages the epilepsy community more widely in a way that can't be done from a clinical service or academic study."

Dr. Khalid Hamandi, Consultant Neurologist, Cardiff Universi

"Simon is a passionate, committed, and engaging advocate for people with epilepsy and their friends, relatives, and carers. Our team has been very fortunate to have had Simon's involvement in many of our research projects."

Prof. J. Terry, Director, SMQB, University of Birmingham

"[I have] 10 years of research in brain theory, computation and clinical trials, but it was Simon who brought a real feel to the digital brain twin in epilepsy."

Prof. Viktor Jirsa, Aix-Marseilles University
